It’s quilt guild tonight! I have belonged to the London Friendship Quilters Guild since 1988. My BFF and I joined, looking for a way to increase our skills in quilting, and enjoy the cmopany of like-minded people. It was probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made to join the guild. I was on the executive for seven years, president for three of those and am co-presidenting (my own word) with two other past president this year while the guild goes through a transitional time. When I joined there were approximately 25 members and now we number 100 +. All guilds go through times of changes and I have found that we are stronger for those occasional transitions. My guild has been with me on life’s journey, be it raising children, losing parents, empty nesting, and mostly making me laugh. I value each and every member of my guild. (Right about here I feel like I should do a Marine Hoo – rah. Weird)

Pattern for a quick and easy autumn wallhanging. 9 X 24 inches. Fusible applique.
Owls by guest designer Lisa Buccella.

Another Quilt Pattern Design from “babs ‘n’ jas designs”. This beautiful quilt pattern design is sure to please your family and friends. This Quilt Pattern Design makes for a quick and easy autumn wallhanging. This quilt pattern design is 9 X 24 inches when completed. Fusible applique makes for easy stitching. Part of the quilt pattern design contains owls which were designed by guest quilt pattern designer Lisa Buccella.

Fusible Applique Instructions. These instructions are included in your owl quilt pattern design, but repeated here for your use.

Fusible Applique is simple, fast and an easy way to add shapes to your quilts. Use a fusible web such as Pellon Wonder-Under or HeatnBond Lite. These paper-backed, iron-on adhesives are available at fabric stores and can be used in any quilt pattern design, not just our Owl Quilt pattern. Read the manufacturer’s instructions provided in case they are different from our instructions below.

1. Use a pencil to draw a shape directly onto the paper back (the smooth side) of the fusible web. Or, trace the owl quilt applique patterns provided directly onto the back of the fusible web.

2. Cut out your owl shapes a little outside of your pencil lines.

3. Place the shape, paper side up, onto the wrong side of a piece of fabric. With no steam and a medium-high setting, iron the shape for about two seconds.

4. When the fabric is cool, cut out the various owl shapes along the pencil lines.

5. Remove the paper backing. Position the cut applique owl shapes fabric side up (adhesive side down,) onto the background for your owl quilt top. Iron it on the place you want it for three to five seconds.

6. Blanket-stitch the applique in place by machine. Make sure that as you slowly stitch around the edges of your owl shape cut-outs, the needles goes on the applique shape with one stitch and just over the edge of the shape on the next stitch. When you pivot, make sure the needle is in the fabric.

7. Below is an example from our owl quilt pattern of fusible applique. If you prefer, you can blanket-stitch the applique in place by hand rather than machine.

Owl Quilt Pattern showing fusible applique.

Quilt Pattern Design For Owl Quilt Lovers

Skinnies were born when Barb (babs) was looking at a narrow wall by a window in her house and wondering what to put up on it. She came up with the quilt pattern design idea of “Skinnies,” 9 X 24 inch wallhangings. We have quilt pattern “Skinnies” for all seasons. Below is our popular quilt pattern design ”O’ Christmas Tree.”

Quilt Pattern Design for a cheerful quick and easy tablerunner 18 X 58 inches long to dress up your table.

A cheerful quick and easy quilt pattern design for a summer tablerunner. 18 X 58 inches long to dress up your table.

Another Quilt Pattern Design from “babs ‘n’ jas designs”. This beautiful quilt pattern design is for a cheerful tablerunner that is 18 X 58 inches long when completed. It is so easy you can make one for every member of your family and friends and of course, don’t forget one for yourself, or two or three. This Quilt Pattern Design uses pre-cut 5 1/2 X 9 1/2 inch rectangles. We love pre-cut charm packs, jellyrolls, rectangle packs, any pre-packaged, pre-cut fabric shape. Pre-cut fabric packages are great to take to quilting retreats. Pre-cut fits any quilt pattern design and the work is done for you. At a retreat, you can get right to the sewing. This quilt pattern design also uses quick and easy fusible applique for the optional circles. makes for easy stitching. The best part of this quilt pattern design is that you can use any colours you like to fit any season. Fun pinks and yellows and soft greens are great for a tablerunner for your spring table.

Quilt Pattern Design for Razzle Dazzle Tablerunner different colourway

Use bright sunny colours, sky blues and red and purples for summer. Use this quilt pattern design for your autumn table by choosing golds, burgundies, browns, and dark reds. For winter holiday time use any of the beautiful golds, silver, red, green, or try the fun pinks and purples that come out every year to make up this quilt pattern design for Christmas sharing – and gifting. So buy a pre-cut package, or cut your own scraps and get busy on a tablerunner for your house. Sometimes I make two, and put them width-wise across the table and use them as placemats for four people.

Quilt Pattern Design Tip

And a tip: this quilt pattern design can also double as a bed warmer to dress up the bottom of your bed, and keep your toes toasty.
